CranioSacral
Therapy by Dr. John Upledger, D.O. One of the first questions patients often ask me
is, "How many sessions will
this take?" I'll tell you the same thing I tell them. I
honestly don't
know what a particular body needs until I put my hands on it and listen.
As my good friend Jean-Pierre Barral likes to say, only the tissues know.
Sometimes a patient requires a number of sessions to fully release a
condition. Yet other times just a session or two can produce
surprising
results.
The following feedback illustrates this well. The letters came from
parents
of children who each participated in a demonstration session at our
CranioSacral Therapy for Pediatrics class. The names have been
changed to protect patient confidentiality, but the results are quite genuine.
"Kevin has profoundly low muscle tone. He was 22 months before
he was able to roll over. In a prone position he could raise his head for only
about 10 seconds.
"Immediately after his CranioSacral Therapy session Kevin was
extremely fatigued so I noticed no improvement. However, within a week he
began to have greater head control ~ he could keep his head up in the prone
position for several minutes. This was fabulous for him. He could now
roll himself to his toy shelves and pull toys off by himself!
"Kevin also began to lift his hips off the floor when in the prone
position,
which of course is a precursor for crawling. I was very encouraged
with his improved mobility after his CranioSacral Therapy work." ~
Joanne
"Since attending the CST pediatric demonstration, Mark has made
tremendous strides. He no longer complains of his head hurting.
"We also noticed an improvement in his speech ~ he is starting
to put more sentences together. Overall he appears calmer and happier. He
continues to look forward to his CST treatments with his own therapist. I would
not hesitate to bring him back next year!" ~ Sarah
"After Evan's CranioSacral Therapy session, I noticed he had a new
love for
reading ~ this from a kid we had to struggle with to ever get him to read.
Prior to the session he was supposed to read a little bit each evening for
homework. Every night it was a huge ordeal. But after the
sessions he
started asking if he could read to us! And not just the prescribed
amount
but extra reading on top of that.
"I would never have believed that a few sessions would have made such
a
positive difference. I'm thrilled to have had such a beneficial and
remarkable experience." ~ Michelle
